At Pensilva Primary School, we believe that wearing a school uniform helps foster a sense of pride, belonging, and equality among our pupils. Our uniform is designed to be practical, affordable, and inclusive, supporting a positive learning environment for all.

What to Wear

Everyday Uniform:

  • Red school sweatshirt, cardigan, or fleece (with or without the school logo)
  • White or grey polo shirt
  • Black or grey trousers, shorts, or knee-length skirts
  • Red and white check summer dresses (optional in warmer weather)

Footwear:

  • Dark, flat shoes (e.g., black or dark trainers)
  • Boots or wellingtons may be worn in bad weather but should be changed into school shoes indoors

PE Kit

  • Black PE shorts and a plain white T-shirt
(From September 2025, children should wear a plain T-shirt in their house colour: red, blue, green, or yellow)
  • Trainers or plimsolls (trainers preferred for support)
  • In colder weather: black tracksuit trousers and a plain sweatshirt
  • For swimming: a one-piece costume or trunks, and preferably a swimming hat

Jewellery & Hair

  • Jewellery should be limited to a watch and small stud earrings (must be removed or covered for PE)
  • Hair should be neat and tied back for PE
  • Extreme hairstyles or colours are discouraged, except for special events

Reasonable Adjustments

We are committed to being inclusive. Adjustments to the uniform can be made for:

  • Religious reasons (e.g., headscarves, turbans)
  • Medical needs (e.g., orthopedic footwear, allergy-friendly fabrics)
  • Special Educational Needs (SEN) (e.g., alternative fastenings or styles)

Please speak with the Headteacher if your child requires any adjustments.

Parental Responsibilities

Parents are expected to:

  • Provide the correct uniform, ensuring it is clean, well-maintained, and clearly labelled
  • Encourage children to take pride in their appearance
  • Ensure children have the correct PE kit and outdoor wear
  • Communicate with the school if there are any difficulties in meeting the uniform requirements

By working together, we can ensure all children feel part of our school community and are ready to learn.
