Tiddy Class - EYFS/Year One
Welcome to Tiddy Class!
We are a mixed EYFS and Y1 class with two teachers, Miss Thomas on a Monday and Tuesday and Mrs Tween on a Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. Our Teaching assistants are Mrs Pengelly, Mrs McDowell and Mrs Van Meurs.
We are very lucky to have a specialist PE teacher for our lesson every Thursday and he is called Mr Jones.
In our outside area we have constant access to the wild area where we can explore some of the techniques we have learnt in our Forest School sessions with Mrs Thomas.
Reading takes place every day with the adults in our class so our books are changed regularly. We have letter cards and key word cards in our book bags to practise at home. Reading at home as often as you can is encouraged, as this impacts on so much of our learning at school. If you need any support with this please feel free to ask one of the teachers.
Phonics is taught every day and we follow the ReadWriteInc programme with a mixture of Jolly Phonics and Phonics Play for interactive games.
We follow the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) Curriculum which has seven areas of learning including: Personal, Social and Emotional Development; Physical Development; Communication and Language; Literacy; Mathematics; Understanding the World; Expressive Art and Design. These areas all help us develop our learning through high quality play and adult led activities. If you would like any more information about this, please pop in to see Miss Thomas or Mrs Tween who will be happy to explain.
Our EYFS children have collaborative, on-line Learning Journeys, which allow parents to add ‘wow’ moments from home, alongside the EYFS team. If you are unsure about using Tapestry please come and speak to one of the teachers who will be happy to help.
Our topic this half termis all about 'Coasts'.
